About
In the work titled Emergency of beauty, Arena, continues his research on identity, documenting, through video and photography, the gestures of a group of characters differing in gender, age, and physical presence, a subtle analysis of the even emotional variety of expressiveness and perception-relationship with one's own body.
And in this series, we find neutral anatomical details such as hands, mouths, eyes, etc., that become metaphors for a hard iconography, transgender play that does not solely involve the totality of the body, but splits and transforms the individual parts, where genders incessantly merge and overturn. Tassels of a very personal and original journey around the body that Francesco Arena has been pursuing with rigor and method for years.

Arena Francesco
Francesco Arena was born in 1966 in Genoa, where he lives and works. An artist and photographer, he has been working for years in the field of art creating projects, including site-specific ones developed in photographic series, polaroids and installations that interact with the use of objects and video projections.
Based on the concept that photography captures only the surface of things, he uses the subject/object to reveal its essence. He works on the idea of "Portrait/Identity" by investigating their origin and symbolic appeal; the body/object as identity is described through the aesthetic codes of mass-media language.
