About the artist

Cipriani Elettra

Italy

Elettra Cipriani, born in Florence into a family of musicians, moved to Rome during her adolescence, where she attended artistic high school while continuing her passion for music, which significantly influenced her creativity. Her interest in ceramics led her to pursue it professionally in 1978. Recognizing a lack of attention to Ceramic Art in Italy, she began teaching to share her skills. Cipriani has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions, including the recent "The Contemporary Ceramic Sculpture in Italy" at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome.

About the artwork

Punto e Linea

Sculptures. Terracotta, engobes, glazes.

Hand selected by our curators

Elettra Cipriani’s plates are evocative modules inspired by the shield, with the circle symbolizing the cyclical nature of events and interconnection. The contrast between black circles, melted glass, copper, iron sheets, and fluid enamels reflects the conflict between the invisible and reality, spirit and material.
