Pera Caroline
France
Caroline Pera, a French-American artist born in Milan in 1987, studied at Central St. Martins in London and is based in Milan. Her portraits blend art with psychology and anthropology, using a quasi-scientific approach to document and reconstruct character traits. Engaging deeply with her subjects, she creates puzzle-like portraits rich in personal narratives. Pera has exhibited in Milan, London, and New York, gaining recognition, including being a finalist for the Deutsche Bank Awards in 2010.
Anju's Painted Identity
Paintings. Nepalese oil and pigment on linen canvas.
Hand selected by our curators
A series of collaborative portraits where children from a Nepalese orphanage painted their own bodies using pure local pigments, completing Pera Caroline’s oil-rendered faces. Displayed with psychological interpretations by Elena Orlandi, these works merge art and anthropology, capturing identity through color, composition, and personal expression.
