Alessi Sabina

Italy

Sabina Alessi, born in Bruges in 1968, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 1992. Her artistic research led her to explore new materials, transforming traditional painting by using items like candies, resins, lead, and rubber animal models. In 2009, her personal exhibition in Rome featured works with glossy and satin glazes, marking the start of color as a central theme in her art. Alessi has exhibited in galleries and public spaces in Italy and abroad, including works like a piece on the seven deadly sins in Empoli and a Corten steel sculpture, Onda 2030, at the Tor Vergata University in 2019.

About the artwork

Doppio

Paintings. Acrylic on canvas.

Hand selected by our curators

In this series of quadrangular paintings, color takes center stage, with its "greedy" material and physicality in motion. This dynamic quality gives rise to shapes that divide the operating field, highlighting the close connection between the key elements of the painting: frame, canvas, and color.
