Auleta Nadia
Italy
Nadia Auleta, born in Lavagna (Genoa), began her artistic career after working as a technical designer. She specializes in the Gyotaku technique, an ancient Japanese art of fish reproduction on rice paper, which she later reinterprets on fabrics and wood. Living in Sestri Levante, her works are deeply inspired by the marine environment. Displayed in Ateliers in Camogli and Casarza Ligure, her art is in private collections worldwide. Auleta has been featured on Rai 3 and exhibited at the Galata Museo del Mare in Genoa.

Hand selected by our curators
Using a shabby-treated wooden frame, this artwork employs the Gyotaku pictorial technique, where a real fish or cephalopod is inked and pressed onto Japanese paper to create a detailed imprint. Nadia Auleta’s works celebrate the Mediterranean Sea’s catch, focusing on traditional prey like fish, octopus, and bream.
