VanDerBeek Johannes
United States
Johannes VanDerBeek (b. 1982, Baltimore) is a contemporary artist based in New York City. His work explores time, transformation, and dreams through sculptures, installations, and 2D pieces. Avoiding a fixed style, he employs unconventional mixed media to create layered allegories that challenge perceptions of material evolution. His work has been exhibited in Europe and the USA.

VanDerBeek Johannes’ series explores the forces of nature through three elemental inspirations. Thunder manifests in large brick-like sculptures, echoing humanity’s need for protection. Ground takes form in ancestral head sculptures, shaped by the studio floor’s surface. Sky is reflected in two-dimensional silver works, capturing an infinite mental space that merges individual identity with the world’s vastness.
