About the artist

Fisher Jan

Czech Republic

Jan Fisher, a contemporary Czech master of timber and glass, creates sculptures inspired by natural forms. Initially trained as a carpenter, he overcame drug addiction and furthered his glass education through an internship with Mr. Vlastimil Beránek. Fisher’s work blends wood and glass, with sculptures resembling leaves, shields, or animal parts. He begins by crafting a wooden sculpture from Kazakh walnut, rich in texture and notches, then creates a glass counterpart to mirror it, constantly exploring new possibilities in his glass art.
