About the artist

Pottery Roma

Italy

Pottery Roma is the ceramics studio where Walter Cipriani crafts unique pieces inspired by ancient Roman marbles and Etruscan ceramics. Mixing stoneware and clay like a scagliola artist, he replicates marble effects in striking vases of simple yet powerful forms. A fourth-generation Roman artisan, he first mastered stuccomarmo and marmorino at the San Servolo Institute in Venice. His collaborations with German artist Kerstin Brätsch have been exhibited at the Memmo Foundation, MoMA, and the 2022 Venice Biennale.
