About the artist

Chartroux Paola

Italy

Paola Chartroux, based in Rome, began her sculptural journey in Crete, later studying art history and attending a sculpture course in Switzerland at the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst in Zurich. Her works often depict women, shaped by curved lines, immersed in ideas and the natural elements. Chartroux is passionate about clay, a humble material connected to earth, water, air, and fire, which has been used for artistic expression since the dawn of human history. She is drawn to the transformation of clay into meaningful stories through her hands.

“The sea is my passion, a sea of figures immersed in the wind. Like roses of the winds—scirocco, tramontana, mistral—female forms gaze south, their hair tracing the wind’s direction. Dives, beachside women savoring the salt breeze, figures draped in waves—a poetic tale of the female sea.” Paola Chartroux
