About
The work Curaçao Woman is a metaphorical representation of an ancient and legendary woman from the Caribbean Isle. The mixed media work on linen canvas is decidedly abstract, but it is possible to sense the female forms reminiscent of the Venus or great mothers of prehistoric times. The stroke with which the foreground figure is made is marked in black and yellow; behind her, the blue colour, hints at a possible shadow that stands out in an explosion of colours, ribbing, splashes. Her icon of beauty is abstract and concrete, it is limit and trespass, it is maternal and erotic body.
