Lucio del Pezzo, born in Naples, moved to Milan in 1960. He worked between Milan and Paris, where he lived in Max Ernst’s studio. In 1961, he won the "Carnegie International Award" and exhibited at the Milan Triennale and Venice Biennale. His early works combined Neapolitan culture with informal and neodadaist elements, later evolving into neometaphysical sculptures with geometric shapes and mythological references. He also worked as a set designer and became a professor at Milan's Academy of Fine Arts in 1984. His art often incorporates cultural symbols and personal knowledge.
