Nejrotti Barbara

Italy

Barbara Nejrotti, based in Turin, combines techniques like woodworking, sewing, painting, and cutting in her innovative works. In 2014, she developed the "technique of thickness," where she sutures figures to retain depth in her pieces. Her art has been exhibited in Italy and abroad, including at the European Parliament in Brussels and the Chagall House in Tel Aviv. In 2020, after studying with Leonardo Mosso and Enrico Baleri, she embraced spatial abstraction in her work.

About the artwork

In Bilico 190920

Paintings. Sewing on canvas.

Hand selected by our curators

In Bilico is an early work from Nejrotti's spatialist research, exploring universal emotions through both language and material manipulation. By precisely stitching thicknesses within the canvas, the artwork takes on a sculptural form, blurring the boundaries between painting and three-dimensional space.
