About the artist

Ogawa Kiichiro

Japan

Kiichiro (born 1970, Osaka, Japan) was influenced by punk rock imagery from a young age, starting to draw on denim jackets and expanding his creativity into clothing, bags, and furniture. After over 20 years in the architecture industry, he became an independent artist. Kiichiro's work, characterized by the use of house paint, spans from stage costumes to furniture and buildings. His "paint on the air" performance style involves creating drawings without physically touching the object. Notable collaborations include Fendi at Design Miami 2018 and exhibitions in Paris and New York.

About the artwork

Fish

Paintings. Guru Guru 'Paint on the Air' technique.

Hand selected by our curators

Created while listening to Fish by Throwing Muses, this work evokes Kafka’s world submerged in water—gloomy, solitary, and enigmatic. It appears still, yet trembles constantly, capturing an unsettling balance between motion and stagnation, reflection and unease.
